City Golf@ The Mines
We had a very successful and eventful day out at the mines this past Saturday in our monthly members outing. We had a great turnout of 28 players and everything ran very smoothly! The course was in good condition as per usual and played quite tough on the day and the score reflected that! I myself lost quite a handful of golf balls to the Lake!
Quite an interesting fact about the Lake which I never knew until Saturday was that it used to be the worlds largest open cast Tin mine! It’s a Robert Trent Jones Jr. Layout which I really enjoy, the golf course cant be overpowered and precision is needed on all your approach shots or you may struggle to come up and down with some very tough pin placements!
Kevan ‘The Bandit’ Bartley as he is now known to the City Golf Members yet again carried first prize home with a very respectable 35 stableford points. He won himself a bottle of 12y/o Singleton Whisky and in true winning fashion, he decided to share the spoils with everyone at City Golf, very kind gesture and the members and I really enjoyed sharing the prize with you! Al Guthrie stumbled into 2nd spot with 33 points and Dave kelly managed somehow to creep into the prizes with only 26 points! Just a show of how tough the golf course played.
We look forward to tying a few more members games into the Rugby World cup next month and there should be many more memorable days out!
Keep an eye open for some tips coming to my blog soon!
