La Bodega Golf Day at Kota Permai

After arriving back to KL after my brief trip back to South Africa, I was right back into the thick of things with the La Bodega Golf Day. It is hard to call a Beat the Pro event “work” as I have such an awesome time out there! But it is still a long day in the sun and I was shattered at the end of it. It was all for a good cause though, so the sunburn was worth it…

I was placed on the Par 3 14th hole to try and hit the ball closer to the pin than the field of 120+ players. I was brave enough to not take any of my own equipment with me, so I was handed all kinds of clubs to try and knock the ball close. This I will definitely not do again!! I know I’ve spoken about this before, but having your own clubs molded to fit you and your golf swing is vitally important. Another issue was the state of some of the grips that were handed to me. OH MY WORD!! Al Guthrie is going to be re-gripping clubs for the rest of the year if even half of the guys I told needed new grips on their clubs come in to The Old Clubhouse!

20 players managed to hit the ball closer than I did. Very embarrassing! However, I did have a horseshoe lip-out for a hole in one which impressed that particular group a bit, as well as a number of shots that finished ‘stone dead” on the awesome little        131 metre hole.

I managed to raise RM1230 for La Bodega’s charity “PUSAT AKTIVITI KANAK KANAK CHOW KIT”. It was a privilege to be there on behalf of CITY GOLF to help raise money for such a worthy cause.

If you hear of any golf days coming up that I may be able to get involved with, please let me know.

Photos of my SA trip coming soon…Cheers for now!
