What a golf course!! Before playing the course I had heard some great things about it, and the rumours were true. The fairways were immaculate, and even though the greens had just been hollow-tined they were very playable (although a touch on the slow side)

Unfortunately we had a few players withdraw at the last minute which is always disappointing, but 8 of us still teed it up to do battle with the challenging layout.

We played the usual individual stableford format, and even with this friendly format the boys struggled!

I managed to sneak away with the win on a pretty dismal score of 34 points. I must add that I hit 15 of 18 greens, so putting was certainly not my strong point. To give you an even better idea of how bad my putting was, I had three 3-putt pars on the Par 5′s. Not ideal. Tom Sarginson and Guilherme Mendes were tied second on 33 points, with Kevan Bartley finishing 3rd on 32 points.

A New Look to City Golf at Bangsar Shopping Centre

Kuala Lumpur, 3 May – After four successful years of operation on the top floor of Bangsar Shopping Centre, City Golf has reopened its doors with a new look that includes the addition of club fitting specialists, The Old Clubhouse.

The new venue has been designed with a clubhouse feel in mind, with a new bar, an updated colour scheme and revised simulator layout. The biggest change is the opening of The Old Clubhouse, the club fitting specialists who were previously located on Jalan Bangkung.

As Tom Sarginson, Director of City Golf, said, “We wanted to create a more customer-friendly and intimate setting, with a traditional ‘clubhouse’ feel to the venue. We believe the newly designed bar area and change in layout has done exactly this and the feedback from our members has been very positive. With the addition of The Old Clubhouse, we now have the ultimate venue to relax, play golf, take a lesson and buy your equipment, all whilst socializing with fellow minded people.”

Alistair Guthrie, owner of The Old Clubhouse, is very happy with his new home: “Tom and I have long discussed the merits of being under one roof and with the re-design of City Golf, it was the perfect opportunity to make this happen. With the simulators, the new Flightscope launch monitor, our fitting expertise and City Golf’s PGA Pro, we have created the ideal place to be fitted with the correct equipment and purchase the very best and latest products. Essentially, we wanted to create an environment where golfers can receive the best equipment advice in a high-tech venue in the heart of the Bangsar area.”
